Different Methods
1. Think through to the beginnings of your book. Go through every single action or moment you've written or thought and ask "What would this character do next?
2. If you don't wanna do Step #1, try thinking of your book as a movie in your head as some would do for regular reading. Let your imagination take charge and go with the flow. You may not get what're looking for immediatly, but its a good start for a new type of thinking.
3. If you feel you want to, try acting out some of the previous scenes in your novel. Sometimes you just kinda go into what's next, even if it's not quite what you want yet.
4. Just READ a book. I've gotten some of my best ideas just simply reading a book within the same genre or close to it. Plus its good for those wired up nerves when you have writer's block.
5. Try writing something completely different. In the same genre of course. A poem, a short-story, or maybe even another novel you already have in progress. This however is not my most recommended tool.
6. Sleep. Sometimes when you have your book on your mind, you'll dream about it, or something relative to it, and ideas will form. Just remember to write them down quick. Dreams are easily forgotten.
7. Sometimes, not always but some, when you've been thinking hard for so long, the best thing to do...is walk away. Erase your head and start fresh the next day. Sometimes it's just the fact that people need to cool down, relax, and gain a new perspective. Although, this is kinda a last resort kind of cure.
