Some good practice for a collection of memorable short-stories!
Challenge #1: Get a piece of paper and a writing utensil. Now pick one of the following scenes to write about:
SCENE CHOICE 1: The hospital room next to your just now deceased grandmother, you mother next to you clutching your hand.
SCENE CHOICE 2: The doorway of your house, the lights just turned on with a sudden chorus of the happy word "SURPRISE!!!!!!" it's your 16th birthday.
SCENE CHOICE 3: Your car just broke down on the side of the road, it was a rental and your phone has no reception. However you've stumbled on an old abandoned mansion. In or Out?
Ok....so for this challenge you choose one of these scenes and write about it, using a good hooker, and details about your surroundings and more importantly your feelings. Write this in 1st person. Try the different scenes for different results.
Challenge #2: Get a piece of paper and a writing utensil. Now use the following setting: New York City Subway Station, and turn it into any sort of genre you want. Love at first sight, Murder Mystery, Action-Packed Chase! Now write a short-story about this.
Challenge #3: Think about all of the morals and lessons you've learned over your years. Methaphors, Similies, around-the-house sayings. Just think about it for a moment. Choose 2 of them. Now incorperate BOTH into the SAME short-story. Get a peice of paper and a writing utensil and begin!!!!!!!
